Srinagar, Feb 27: In a coordinated effort, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK), in conjunction with the CID cell Delhi and Delhi Police, successfully apprehended a terrorist during a discreet operation in the national capital, as reported by officials on Thursday.
The CIK conducted a secretive operation that led to the arrest of Parvez Ahmad Khan, also known as PK, Sheikh Tajamul Islam, and Khalid, son of Bashir Ahmad Khan, who resides in Farooq Colony, Bemina, Srinagar. He was wanted in connection with FIR No. 02/2024.
According to officials, Khan is implicated in terror financing and has connections with members of banned terrorist organizations operating across the Line of Control (LoC). The case registered at CIK police station involves the provision of logistic support to these terrorist factions in Jammu and Kashmir through various means, including financial assistance for their operations in the territory.
“It has been revealed that funds have been funneled from across the LoC, entering India through couriers, including the arrested suspect,” an official explained.
The operation was meticulously planned at CIK Headquarters several days prior, with the suspect under both technical and physical surveillance. The individual had been evading capture and was reportedly plotting to relocate from his current hiding place.
“The arrest was executed in accordance with a warrant issued by a competent court in Srinagar. Following his transit from Delhi to Srinagar, the detained terrorist will be presented before the appropriate court; a transit remand has already been secured from the Delhi Court.
Additional arrests in connection with this case are anticipated,” the official noted. (KNO)
