Jammu, Jan 26: A suspected criminal has been detained under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities stated that his “repeated criminal activities” present a significant threat to public order and safety in the area.
Sunil Kumar, known as “Kashu,” hails from Radwan village in Ramgarh. Following a formal detention order issued by the Samba district magistrate, he has been placed under the PSA, according to a police spokesman.
The individual, in his late twenties, is now being held at Udhampur District Jail. Multiple charges against him have been filed at various police stations across Samba district, including Ramgarh, Vijaypur, Samba, Ghagwal, as well as Rajbagh police station in Kathua district.
“His ongoing criminal behavior poses a serious risk to public peace and stability in the region,” the spokesman emphasized.
The PSA is an administrative law that permits detention without charges or trial for a period of up to two years in specific circumstances.
