JAMMU, Dec 26: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting with senior civil administration and police officials to review preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations in 2025 within the Union Territory.
The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for the local divisional administration to take proactive measures to encourage public participation in this national event. He stressed creating a festive atmosphere throughout Jammu & Kashmir, particularly in the twin cities of Jammu and Srinagar.
Dulloo directed that all key landmarks and prominent government buildings be illuminated. He also insisted on arranging proper transportation and seating for school children.
Furthermore, he instructed the administrative body to ensure sufficient parking arrangements and a seamless flow of traffic during the event. Dulloo also assessed the necessary security protocols required to ensure the successful execution of this significant occasion.
During the meeting, he inquired about the cultural performances planned for the event, urging opportunities for school children and differently-abled students from the UT.
He encouraged cultural departments to create tableaux representing Jammu & Kashmir’s diversity, while the Power Development Department (PDD) was asked to represent the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Police Department to address drug abuse, the Health Department to focus on TB Mukt J&K, and the Youth Services and Sports Department to highlight the Fit India Movement.
Additionally, the Information Department was tasked with ensuring a live telecast of the main events via the regional units of Doordarshan and All India Radio, as well as assisting media personnel in fulfilling their journalistic responsibilities.
Other discussion points included ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation at event venues, and the completion of civil works being undertaken by the Roads and Buildings Department to prepare both Jammu and Srinagar.
