JAMMU, Jan 18: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting today with top civil administration and police officials to finalize the arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations, 2025, scheduled to take place across Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary sought updates from each department on their preparation status to ensure smooth celebrations in both Jammu and Srinagar. He urged divisional administrations to facilitate participation by providing transport and other necessary amenities for attendees to reach the locations.
Dulloo inquired about the illumination plans for key landmarks and government buildings, advising heads of departments to light up their offices and engage municipal corporations in enhancing public infrastructure as per tradition.
He emphasized the importance of arranging suitable transport and seating for schoolchildren, along with provisions for refreshments and assistance in the lead-up to the event.
The Chief Secretary reviewed parking arrangements at both venues and instructed traffic authorities to ensure unobstructed movement on the roads. He assessed the security measures required to protect attendees and guarantee the event’s seamless execution.
Regarding cultural presentations, Dulloo encouraged inclusivity, asking for participation from both disabled and other children. He requested the Divisional Commissioner to personally evaluate the quality of the tableaux showcased by various departments, including Culture, PDD (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana), Police (Drug Abuse), YS&S (Fit India Movement), and Cooperatives.
He strongly urged municipal bodies to launch special sanitation initiatives throughout urban areas, particularly around parade locations, highlighting their responsibility in preparing the cities for this national celebration.
Dulloo also directed the Director of Information to ensure live broadcasts of the key functions from regional units of Doordarshan and All India Radio, as well as assisting media professionals in their coverage.
Other topics discussed in the meeting included the necessity for consistent power and water supply and the accomplishment of civil works led by the R&B Department to enhance the venues in Jammu and Srinagar.
