KATHUA, Feb 1: On his visit to the Kathua Industrial Estates, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo toured both Ghatti and Bhagthali today.
During his visit, he inspected several industrial facilities, including Devyani Food Industries Pvt. Ltd., an ice cream production plant, and Varun Beverages Ltd. at Ghatti. He engaged with industry officials to learn about the services provided in the units and to understand the challenges they face.
At Bhagthali, he visited Kandhari Global Beverages Pvt. Ltd., where officials provided insights into the plant’s operations.
In a media briefing, the Chief Secretary underscored the key tenets of Jammu and Kashmir’s Industrial Policy, which aims to foster a supportive environment for industrial development in the region. He pointed out that this policy is part of a significant Rs. 28,400 crore investment package from the Government of India, designed to attract industries to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory while creating job opportunities and bolstering the local economy.
Atal Dulloo reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering essential support to industries, including incentives, infrastructure development, and single-window clearances.
He also stressed the need for environmental sustainability in industrial growth, urging that industries comply with environmental regulations and adopt eco-friendly practices. He assured that the government would support industries in meeting these environmental standards.
Following his inspections, the Chief Secretary convened a meeting with industrialists from the Ghatti, Kathua, and Bhagthali Industrial Estates at the DC Office complex. The discussion focused on the current state of infrastructure and facilities in these estates, highlighting priority issues that need to be addressed to support industries in the area.
He was joined by a team of senior officials, including Vikramjeet Singh (Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce), Mohd. Yasin Choudhary (MD, JPDCL), Arun Manhas (Director, Industries and Commerce, Jammu), Inderjeet (Managing Director, SIDCO/SICOP), Rakesh Minhas (Deputy Commissioner Kathua), Shobhit Saxena (SSP Kathua), Ranjit Singh (ADC Kathua), and the GM DIC, among others.
