- Prize Money of Rs 1.33 Cr available across all event categories
NEW DELHI, Dec 13: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting with the Tourism Department to review the upcoming Jammu Half Marathon and Ultra Marathon-2025, scheduled for February next year.
The meeting, which included the Commissioner Secretary of the Tourism Department, Deputy Commissioners from Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, the Director of Tourism in Jammu, Traffic Police officials, and other relevant officers, focused on the preparations made so far.
During the session, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need to activate the registration portal promptly to raise awareness among fitness enthusiasts and give adequate time for enthusiasts to sign up.
He also instructed the department to launch sustained social media campaigns featuring engaging short videos, jingles, and other promotional materials to drum up interest in this inaugural marathon event. He encouraged the inclusion of testimonials from popular national figures to further promote the marathon.
Dulloo requested the teaser to be completed by the end of this month, recommending the creation of 40-50 promotional videos to be distributed across various media platforms to generate excitement for this landmark event.
Additionally, he suggested seeking sponsorships from the Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, and Corporate sectors to ensure the marathon’s success and enhance tourism in the Jammu region.
Commissioner Secretary Yasha Mudgal provided updates on the current preparations for the marathon in Jammu.
She noted that the registration portal being developed by BISAG-N would be ready for launch by December 25th. Furthermore, she mentioned that the necessary certifications and measurements for the 109 km Ultra Marathon Jammu are currently in progress to finalize the event setup.
It was also highlighted that other race formats, including a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km Fitness-gauge Marathon, and a 5 km Fun Run, would be organized simultaneously for both male and female participants.
Attractive prizes are in store for both Men and Women, including a top prize of Rs 15 lakhs, second prize of Rs 12 lakhs, third prize of Rs 9 lakhs, fourth prize of Rs 5 lakhs, and fifth prize of Rs 3 lakhs for Half Marathon winners.
Additionally, Rs 3 lakhs will be awarded to the Fitness-gauge winner, while Fun Run winners will receive Rs 1 lakh, with prizes extending to the top five in each category for both genders, culminating in a total prize pool of Rs 1.33 Cr across all formats.
All races are tentatively scheduled for February 23rd (Sunday), considering favorable weather conditions for outdoor sporting events during that month.
