JAMMU, January 30: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened the 6th UT Level Steering Committee (UTLSC) Meeting for AMRUT 2.0 to review its performance and discuss various implementation matters.
The meeting saw participation from the Commissioner Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti Department, Principal Secretary of Finance, Commissioner Secretaries of Forest, and JMC/SMC, MD of AMRUT, and the Director of ULB for Jammu/Kashmir, among other relevant officials.
Addressing the assembly, Dulloo urged for an expedited pace on ongoing AMRUT 2.0 projects. He insisted on swiftly resolving any issues that might hinder progress to facilitate the smooth execution of projects on the ground. Moreover, he stressed the importance of quickly formulating the delayed Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and initiating the tendering process for approved projects without delay.
He highlighted that the timely preparation and endorsement of DPRs are crucial for the seamless implementation of AMRUT initiatives, which in turn would enhance development and improve the quality of life in the region. Dulloo noted that the government’s commitment to these projects underscores its dedication to enhancing water supply services and tackling critical water-related challenges.
The Chief Secretary requested that officials assess the needs of each town under the program and prioritize accordingly for implementation.
He also instructed senior officials to vigilantly monitor the quality of work and issue clear directives to their teams to address any issues that arise.
Dulloo emphasized that only projects certified by the Technical Appraisal Committee should proceed for approval to minimize any implementation glitches.
The meeting showcased the details of approved projects and progress made so far under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0 for Jammu and Kashmir. It was revealed that 63 DPRs for Water Supply Schemes (23 for Jammu Region and 40 for Kashmir Region) have been approved by the UTLSC. Additionally, three more DPRs received technical endorsement from the UTLTC for Udhampur, Basohli, and JMC.
Notably, major towns included in the AMRUT 2.0 water supply scheme encompass Srinagar, Jammu, Budgam, Kulgam, Bhaderwah, Batote, RS Pura, Akhnoor, Chenani, Hiranagar, Kathua, Lakhanpur, Vijaypur, Reasi, Baramulla, Beerwah, Magam, Pattan, Devsar, Uri, Awantipora, Kupwara, Ganderbal, Sopore, and numerous other smaller towns across both divisions of J&K.
