New Delhi, Feb 5: The customs department reported on Wednesday that gold coins valued at Rs 7.8 crore were confiscated at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport from two individuals. The suspects, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, were apprehended upon their arrival from Milan. While initial baggage scans showed no irregularities, a thorough personal search unveiled two specially crafted waist belts containing gold coins concealed in plastic wrappers. In total, 10.092 kg of gold coins were seized, amounting to an estimated Rs 7.8 crore. The customs department has detained the passengers for further questioning. (Agencies)
