Dear Sir,
Today, December 10, we observe International Human Rights Day—a vital occasion to reaffirm our dedication to the principles outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Unfortunately, the Hindu minority in Bangladesh continues to suffer severe human rights violations, driven by extremist groups while being overlooked by the government.
The current circumstances are alarming, with temples, homes, and businesses being vandalized, and individuals enduring targeted attacks, arrests, and even loss of life. The government’s negligence in safeguarding minority communities has fostered a culture of impunity, enabling offenders to evade justice.
It is crucial for international organizations, particularly the UN, to act swiftly to tackle this crisis. Measures should include deploying a peacekeeping force to Bangladesh, providing reparations for damaged properties, and establishing a dedicated board for the advancement of the Sanatan community in Bangladesh.
We implore the Bangladeshi government to implement tangible measures to protect its Hindu minority and ensure that those responsible for these acts are held accountable. The global community must not ignore these grave injustices.
Sincerely,
Sudheer Sharma
