KUPWARA, Dec 24: Today, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, held a meeting with relevant officials to assess the preparations for the Lolab Festival.
The discussions during the meeting thoroughly addressed various departmental arrangements to ensure the successful execution of the Lolab festival amidst the snowfall season.
The meeting revealed that the Lolab Festival aims to tap into the tourism potential of the largely untouched Lolab Valley, known for its picturesque landscape.
During the session, relevant departments were urged to implement robust arrangements. The police department was tasked with making necessary security provisions around the festival site, while traffic police would manage vehicle parking for attendees. BDO Sogam was assigned the responsibility of providing mobile toilets to enhance visitor convenience.
Plans for activities such as ATV rides, Zipline, ice skating, and sledging were also evaluated, with officials instructed to collaborate with various stakeholders to draw a significant number of tourists eager to experience the valley’s natural beauty.
ACD Kupwara was directed to arrange a main stage for musical performances, ensuring seating for visitors who wish to enjoy live music.
AC Panchayats will guarantee the availability of heating, sound equipment, LCDs, and other electronic devices to create a festive atmosphere. The tourism department will install signage and hoardings around the festival venue to highlight the event and government tourism initiatives.
Additionally, the Chief Education Officer Kupwara was instructed to facilitate student participation in cultural performances. The police department will also organize a police band for entertainment.
The PDD and PHE departments were tasked with ensuring a continuous supply of power and water, respectively. The forest department was asked to prepare trekking, bird watching, and bonfire arrangements for adventurous nature lovers. The Army will provide tents for visitor seating.
It was noted that the line departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Handicrafts, and Floriculture, will set up stalls featuring local products. Additional departments were assigned tasks in line with their expertise.
During the meeting, the DC emphasized the necessity for solid arrangements to ensure the Lolab Festival’s success and encouraged close collaboration with SDM Lolab for effective planning.
The meeting saw attendance from ADC Kupwara, M Rouf Rehman; CEO LBDDA, SDM Lolab, ASP Kupwara, ACD, ACP, CPO, DFO Kamraj, XEN R&B Lolab, alongside officers from the Police and Army.
