Shopian, 10th February: Today, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta, presided over a meeting of the District Level Export Promotion Committee to evaluate and sanction the District Export Action Plan (DEAP) for the Shopian district.
The discussions in the meeting focused on the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, emphasizing efforts to establish Shopian as a significant Export Hub, particularly for apple products.
Participants were informed that 51,000 MT Controlled Atmosphere (CA) storage facilities are currently operational in the district, with an additional 28,000 MT under the MSME program and 14,000 MT under the PPP model in progress.
Furthermore, it was highlighted that 17 Cold Storage Units (KKGs) are functioning in the district, with plans to operationalize an additional 33 KKGs soon.
The DC urged for an increase in the export capabilities of Shopian district, which would significantly contribute to its economic development and prosperity.
He also instructed the Horticulture and Agriculture departments to devise a strategy for establishing quality control laboratories in the district.
The meeting saw participation from ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, General Manager of DIC Shopian, CPO, CHO, CAO, and others.
Additionally, Joint Director of DGFT, Joint Director of MSME, DDM, NABARD, and others joined the meeting remotely.
