- Snow clearance successfully completed to Peer Ki Gali from the Shopian side
SHOPIAN, Dec 30: The Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) of Shopian has made remarkable progress in clearing snow towards Peer Ki Gali from the Shopian side, completing the task late last night, significantly ahead of the anticipated deadline.
This achievement followed the Deputy Commissioner’s visit to the Mughal Road yesterday, where he instructed immediate snow removal efforts. The MED Shopian responded vigorously, achieving record clearance times.
Today, Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar, along with Chief Engineer, MED Kashmir, Manga Ram Kotwal, and ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad Lone, inspected the Mughal Road axis to evaluate the snow clearance operations and assess the road’s readiness for traffic.
The Deputy Commissioner evaluated snow accumulation conditions, identified avalanche-prone areas, and discussed the prospects for re-opening the road.
Certain vulnerable locations have been thoroughly addressed, with salt applied to enhance safety and traffic viability.
With snow clearance operations advancing effectively along the Poonch side, Shahid Saleem expressed optimism about the Mughal Road being open for traffic soon.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ACR and other officials.
