JAMMU, Dec 30: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has emphasized the importance of strict adherence to established rules and regulations during mining operations, alongside a strong focus on environmental concerns.

These remarks were made during a meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister to evaluate the performance and operations of the mining department at the Civil Secretariat. The meeting included participation from the Director of Mining, Member Secretary FAC, senior officials, and other stakeholders.
Choudhary insisted on the necessity for strict compliance with the regulations governing mining activities, stating that any violations will not be tolerated. He urged district mining officers to ensure that no irregularities occur.
He stated, “Officers must guarantee that mining operations are conducted in full accordance with established norms and procedures. Lessees should avoid any rule violations and work closely with the department to manage and rectify any infractions initiated against defaulters.”
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of considering environmental impacts during excavation processes, stressing the need to protect the fragile ecosystem of the region. “Development must align with environmental needs and protections,” he affirmed, adding that preserving our environment is crucial.
The Deputy Chief Minister also instructed officers to address grievances raised by stakeholders promptly and take necessary actions for resolution.
