JAMMU, Jan 7: Emphasizing the importance of enhancing healthcare services for residents of remote areas, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary instructed officials to accelerate the progress of ongoing health infrastructure projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks in a review meeting aimed at assessing the completion status of the under-construction Sub District Hospitals in Sunderbani and Nowshera, located in Rajouri district.
Key attendees of the meeting included the Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department, Secretaries of the PW(R&B) and H&ME Departments, MD of JPDCL Jammu, Director of Health Services Jammu, Chief Engineers from the PW(R&B) Zone Pir Panjal, Mechanical and Hospital Engineering Department Jammu, JPDCL Jammu, along with other senior officials.
He urged the officers to ensure effective coordination to guarantee that the SDHs are delivered on time. Any obstacles should be resolved promptly to expedite the projects, ultimately benefiting the public through improved healthcare initiatives. “Ensure that the work on these significant healthcare projects operates in double shifts for faster completion,” he instructed the officials.
“We are dedicated to improving healthcare facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in rural and isolated regions. Instructions have already been given to expedite various healthcare infrastructure projects, especially those under construction. We are also implementing stringent monitoring to ensure they are finished as soon as possible,” the Deputy Chief Minister affirmed.
It was reported during the meeting that the 50-bedded Sub District Hospital in Sunderbani is under construction with an estimated cost of Rs. 18.57 crore and is projected to be completed by July 2025. Likewise, the upgrade of the 100-bedded SDH in Nowshera is anticipated to cost around Rs. 18.8 crore, with completion expected by July 2025.
