Mumbai, Jan 12: During the BCCI Special General Meeting held in Mumbai on Sunday (January 12, 2025), Devajit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia were elected unopposed as secretary and treasurer, respectively.
Both candidates were the sole nominees for these positions, which were previously held by Jay Shah and Ashish Shelar. Shah vacated the secretary role after assuming the position of ICC chairman last month, while Shelar resigned following his appointment as a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.
Saikia, who is from Assam, had been performing additional duties as secretary since Shah’s elevation to ICC chairman on December 1. He previously served as joint secretary, a position that is now vacant.
“The two elective office bearer positions—Secretary and Treasurer—were unopposed, making a poll unnecessary for these roles,” announced electoral officer A K Joti while declaring the results.
Shah, honored by the BCCI on Saturday night, was also recognized during the SGM. (Agencies)
