Conclusion of the J&K UT Senior Basketball Championship

JAMMU, Dec 25: The J&K UT Senior Basketball Championship, hosted by the J&K Basketball Association under the J&K Sports Council’s auspices, concluded today at MA Stadium. Numerous teams, both male and female, took part in the Championship, representing various districts of J&K. District Jammu clinched a tightly contested final against STC Jammu.
The championship featured a total of 15 teams—11 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams. In the women’s division, the Warriors secured the championship title, while Reasi took the runner-up position. The day began with the third-place match in the men’s category, where Udhampur faced J&K Police, with JKP winning 77-70. The final showdown between STC and District Jammu was thrilling, with momentum shifting back and forth, but District Jammu ultimately prevailed with a score of 72-69.
Dr. Vikram Handa, President of the J&K Basketball Association, welcomed chief guest Nuzhat Gul, commending her ongoing support.
Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the Sports Council, congratulated all players and lauded their vibrant energy during the closely contested finals. She promised that the Sports Council would soon establish basketball courts in every district of J&K. Dr. N.S. Bhutyal, Superintendent of GMC Jammu, was the honored guest for the event.
Aman Sharma, Secretary of the J&K Basketball Association, provided updates on the championship and delivered the annual report detailing the JKBA’s activities. Among other notable attendees were Rajeev Sharma, a member of the JK Sports Council; Kuldeep Gupta, Technical Director of the Kabaddi Federation; Suraj Bhan, Manager of the Indoor Stadium; DSO Baljinder Singh; Ashok Singh Jamwal, Senior Vice President of JKBA; Faisal Hameed, Treasurer of JKBA; Sushma Jamwal, Chief Coach of the JK Sports Council; Shubham Sharma, Mentor of Khelo India; and various coaches and officials, including Rohan Kundal, Kunal, Manoj Kumar Solanki, Rajesh Bandral, and Harpreet Singh. This championship not only offered a competitive platform but also encouraged camaraderie and sportsmanship among all participants.
