Div Com Emphasizes Close Coordination Among Engineering Departments for Snow Clearance Operations

SRINAGAR, Jan 4: To tackle pressing issues such as the operation of ITMS cameras, relocation of KPTCL towers at Sanatnagar, snow clearance, and rehabilitation cases, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, convened a meeting with relevant departments and officers on Saturday.

The meeting included the participation of SMC Commissioner/CEO SSCL, Dr. Owais Ahmad; ADC Srinagar, Khalid Hussain Malik; SSP Traffic Srinagar; Chief Engineers from R&B, MED, SSCL, KPTCL, along with the concerned revenue officer.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner expressed serious concerns regarding software issues affecting the ITMS, which hinders proper traffic regulation implementation. He instructed the relevant officer to promptly resolve these problems to enhance utilization by the Traffic Department.

Addressing the relocation of KPTCL towers at Sanatnagar to facilitate smooth traffic flow on the flyover, the Div Com urged officials to expedite the land acquisition process under the 3A National Highway Act for setting up new transmission towers.

In light of weather forecasts predicting snowfall, the Divisional Commissioner ordered the activation of the Divisional Control Room at ICCC to monitor and address any emergencies. He further directed the deployment of staff in the Control Room by the relevant departments.

For the efficient execution of the snow clearance plan, the Div Com recommended close coordination and collaboration among SMC, R&B, MED, ULB, and PMGSY, ensuring prompt snow clearance and restoration of road connectivity.

He emphasized that the snow clearance operations should not be limited to designated areas but should extend judiciously to assist nearby regions in opening roads.

The Div Com further instructed the Chief Engineer of MED to work alongside SMC to prioritize the restoration of city roads.

Additionally, the meeting addressed challenges related to the acquisition of structures along the road alignment at Habakadal and the necessary rehabilitation.

On this occasion, the Div Com directed the district administration to identify ten plots on the outskirts of the city for the rehabilitation of affected households.
