JAMMU, Jan 10: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, led a meeting today to assess the progress of the Financial Assistance Scheme for Displaced Persons and West Pakistan Refugees.
The meeting included Deputy Commissioners from Jammu, Samba, and Kathua, along with the Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu, and concentrated on recent actions by local District Administrations to reach out to and identify eligible beneficiaries who were previously overlooked.
The Divisional Commissioner requested detailed reports from each district regarding camps, participant numbers, outreach efforts, and door-to-door initiatives aimed at locating eligible DPs and WPRs.
The Deputy Commissioners provided updates about ongoing camps and the volume of applications received for examination.
The Divisional Commissioner instructed all officials to ensure that applications collected during public outreach efforts are thoroughly reviewed before being forwarded to higher authorities for further processing. He also emphasized making the disposal status of cases publicly available through notices and publications. Additionally, he urged completion of the review of all eligible cases by the end of January to expedite approval from superiors.
