JAMMU, Dec 6: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya has issued an order mandating that all firearm license holders in Jammu district adhere to the Arms (Amendment) Act 2019.
According to this legislation, individuals cannot possess more than two firearms. License holders identified as owning more than two firearms are required to surrender the excess weapons within one week.
These individuals should return their additional firearms to the nearest police station or an authorized arms depot if they are members of the Armed Forces.
After surrendering the weapons, license holders must ensure their licenses are properly endorsed to prevent cancellation and any further legal repercussions under the Arms Act.
This enforcement follows earlier directives dated June 28, 2022, and July 18, 2022, which called for licensees to comply with the permissible limits on firearm ownership.
Non-compliance will result in immediate license cancellation and stringent actions against violators. This directive applies to anyone in the district who exceeds the two-firearm limit.
