DODA, Jan 9: Today, the Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC) Doda, Dhananter Singh Kotwal, held a thorough review of development initiatives across various sectors within the district at a meeting conducted here.
The meeting included attendance from DDC Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Rani; Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh; DPO ICDS Parmjeet Singh; CPO Manesh Kumar Manhas; DDC Councillors, alongside officials from numerous departments. Key sectors discussed included Public Works (PWD), Jal Shakti, Education, Rural Development (RDD), Health, and Agriculture, among others.
The review emphasized essential issues such as road connectivity under PMGSY and PWD, water availability in areas facing shortages, and the operational status of solar street lights. The Chairman voiced concerns regarding delays in the installation of solar lights and instructed officials to ensure prompt execution in partnership with local vendors. The renovation of school facilities under the Samagra scheme, enhancement of toilet amenities in schools, and tackling healthcare challenges—including the provision of ambulances, maternity centers, and oxygen facilities—were also topics of detailed discussion.
The DDC Chairman assessed the physical and financial progress of works sanctioned under DDC grants in the RDD sector on a constituency basis, highlighting rural roads, community halls, and water conservation initiatives. He urged officials to accelerate projects, carry out field inspections, and comply with set timelines. He further asserted the necessity of incorporating all eligible beneficiaries under the PMAY scheme and prioritizing projects delayed by PWD, PMGSY, and Jal Shakti departments.
The Chairman reiterated the significance of transparency, accountability, and cooperation among departments for effective service delivery. He emphasized the necessity to resolve public grievances, address obstacles, and meet deadlines. Acknowledging the progress made to date, he called for improved collaboration among departments to ensure superior development results.
Key directives included the need to ensure the payment of outstanding installments to PMAY beneficiaries, promote tourism by safeguarding natural resources, and organize sanitation drives. The Chairman encouraged the Forest Department to carry out extensive plantation initiatives, especially in Jai Valley, and to focus on developing lesser-known tourism sites. Additionally, he stressed the effective use of funds under the PM’s HADP scheme to serve the public better.
