NEW DELHI, Dec 20: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Space, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh today awarded the “Hospital Administration Excellence Awards” to notable Hospital Administrators, highlighting their importance in the integration of medical services.
During the third edition of the Hospital Administration Excellence Awards, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the essential role of science and technology in transforming healthcare systems. The event recognized the outstanding accomplishments of healthcare administrators and institutions that have achieved excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and healthcare delivery innovation.
Dr. Singh praised the vital contributions of healthcare administrators, suggesting they are key to the effective operation of healthcare systems. He pointed out the significant relationship between healthcare administration and advancements in science and technology, noting how innovations have changed healthcare methodologies. “Science and technology are fundamental to contemporary healthcare delivery,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the Ministry of Science and Technology’s contributions, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted various initiatives that have bolstered India’s healthcare system. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), under the ministry’s leadership, was crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, facilitating the development of indigenous vaccines and conducting mass genome sequencing to monitor virus variants.
Furthermore, the DBT’s initiatives in producing cost-effective diagnostic kits and supporting biopharmaceutical innovations have significantly enhanced healthcare access across the nation.
The Union Minister also discussed the Mission COVID Suraksha, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has placed India at the forefront of Preventive Healthcare.
The awards, named after distinguished figures from Indian history such as Bhishma for lifetime achievement and Chanakya for strategic excellence, were intended to encourage and inspire healthcare professionals.
Looking to the future, Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed optimism about India’s role as a global frontrunner in healthcare innovation. He highlighted advances in precision medicine, biotechnological research, and data-informed decision-making as evidence of India’s commitment to utilizing science for the broader good. “The combination of science and technology with human empathy is essential for cultivating a resilient and inclusive healthcare environment,” he asserted.
