- PM Modi’s Government is Focused on Reclaiming PoJK
New Delhi, Mar 1: Describing the introduction of Article 370 into the Indian Constitution as one of the most significant “Nehruvian blunders,” Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated on Saturday that Jawaharlal Nehru’s decision to declare a ceasefire hindered the reclamation of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Speaking at the PoJK Resolution Day event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum alongside the Mirpur PoJK Sacrifice Committee at the Indian Society of International Law Auditorium, Dr. Singh remarked, “In 1947, as the Indian Army was prepared to retake Mirpur, which is now part of PoJK, Nehru (the then Prime Minister of India) announced a unilateral ceasefire.”
According to Dr. Singh, the truce was declared without cabinet consultation. Nehru’s aim to be a “messiah of peace” halted military operations when the Army required just two more days to fulfill its mission.
He added, “The inclusion of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu & Kashmir, left the region in a state of uncertainty until August 5, 2019, when the Modi-led government abrogated it. This provisional Article was one of the greatest blunders by Nehru.”
Furthermore, he criticized Nehru’s decision to take the Kashmir issue to the United Nations, labeling it another “historical blunder.” “This action obstructed India’s ability to reclaim its rightful territory,” he stated.
Dr. Singh affirmed that POJK, the Pakistan-Occupied Territories of Ladakh (POTL), and the China-Occupied Territories of Ladakh (COTL) are intrinsic parts of India and will continue to be so.
“The government led by PM Modi is resolute in its commitment to reclaim PoJK,” he emphasized. (KNO)
