AHMEDABAD, Feb 14: Speaking at the “Intellectuals Meet” on the Budget for 2025-26 held by the State BJP, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh illuminated the forward-looking vision of the Budget, embodying the intent and determination of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He characterized it as a blueprint for a technologically advanced and self-sufficient nation, emphasizing its significance in determining the nation’s future. These comments were made during a press briefing at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Dr. Jitendra Singh praised the Budget’s pioneering initiatives, with particular emphasis on its commitment to technological innovation and energy independence. He pointed out the historic move to permit private sector involvement in the nuclear domain, describing it as a transformative development for India’s energy landscape. He remarked that these strategies would not just lead to energy self-sufficiency but also position India as a global frontrunner in advanced nuclear technology by 2047.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to making nuclear power a fundamental aspect of India’s energy strategy. The launch of the “Nuclear Energy Mission for Viksit Bharat” outlines a thorough approach to bolstering national nuclear capabilities, encouraging private investment, and implementing advanced nuclear technologies. A substantial budget allocation of ₹20,000 crore has been designated for research and development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), aiming to have at least five domestically designed SMRs operational by 2033. This initiative is in line with India’s ambitious target of reaching a 100 GW nuclear power capacity by 2047, which is a vital step towards reducing carbon emissions and achieving sustainable energy sources.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, reflecting on the successful liberalization of the space sector for private entities, expressed optimism that analogous reforms in the nuclear sector would spur growth and innovation. He acknowledged that for many years, the nuclear sector was constrained by strict regulations; however, recent policy adjustments are designed to create more openness and partnerships, in harmony with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The Intellectual Meet, organized by the BJP State Unit of Gujarat at the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters, served as a forum to discuss the extensive implications of the Union Budget 2025-26.
During the meeting, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted how the budget illustrates the Modi government’s dedication to promoting economic growth, technological progress, and self-reliance. He stressed that the budgetary provisions, especially in the science and technology sector, will drive India towards becoming a global center for innovation and energy security.
After the address, an interactive session followed with business community leaders, who commended the progressive initiatives and industry-friendly reforms outlined in the budget. Several representatives expressed their appreciation for the various relief measures and incentives presented, noting how the new policies would facilitate smoother business operations and stimulate economic growth.
Dr. Jitendra Singh welcomed their insights, reaffirming the government’s commitment to fostering an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurs, startups, and industries, in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
