Sources revealed to the Excelsior that the three-hour meeting emphasized key public concerns, legislative strategies, and the BJP’s approach to ensuring active participation in the forthcoming Budget Session. The MLAs focused on effective counter-strategies against the ruling party and holding it accountable for its unfulfilled promises outlined in the National Conference manifesto. Dr. Jitendra Singh urged legislators to come prepared with well-researched, evidence-based interventions rather than resorting to trivial personal attacks.
The meeting saw the presence of Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, other BJP MLAs, and the party’s J&K President Sat Sharma. Discussions highlighted pressing issues such as drug addiction, land encroachments, and illegal mining that have impacted communities throughout the Union Territory. Several MLAs expressed the challenges their constituencies face, emphasizing the need for robust legislative action.
Dr. Jitendra Singh reiterated the party’s commitment to a nationalistic agenda, advocating for public-centric issues and pressuring the Government for transparent and accountable governance. He encouraged BJP MLAs to engage constructively in the Assembly and to present a united front on issues that matter to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Later, addressing the media and summarizing the meeting’s outcomes, Dr. Jitendra Singh mentioned the importance of ensuring that the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir reap the benefits of the significant upcoming Budget Session. “Our focus has been to address subjects factually, leading to an extensive discussion on various topics,” he noted.
“The BJP has emerged victorious in the recent Assembly elections with a larger vote share than the ruling party, making it essential for us to earn the trust of the people and articulate their aspirations in the Assembly,” added Dr. Jitendra Singh.
The meeting, moderated by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, established a framework for BJP’s involvement in legislative activities. He stressed the importance of legislative party meetings before and during the session for refining daily strategic approaches. The gathering concluded with statements from BJP J&K President Sat Sharma, who underscored the necessity of coordination among party members and their duty to effectively voice public concerns in the legislature. “With the upcoming budget session approaching, BJP’s legislative team is ready to take a proactive stance in the Assembly, ensuring that community issues are prioritized in discussions,” he emphasized, encouraging legislators to devise an effective strategy for their role as the Opposition.
