NEW DELHI, Dec 9: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology; Earth Sciences; PMO; Atomic Energy; Space; Personnel; Public Grievances and Pensions, today officially launched the “Amrit Gyaan Kosh” Portal aimed at enhancing governance training.
The Minister also inaugurated the “Advanced Case Writing and Teaching Workshop,” an initiative conducted in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission, Stanford Leadership Academy for Development, and the Asian Development Bank Institute. This workshop is a significant step toward improving governance training and capacity development for public administrators in India.
In his opening speech, Dr. Jitendra Singh emphasized the essential role of case studies in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application in governance training. He praised the commitment of faculty members from Central and State Training Institutes in nurturing the next generation of public administrators. The Minister expressed his hope for the positive impact of this workshop, which aims to equip educators with advanced skills in case writing and teaching techniques.
During his address, the Minister introduced a key milestone—the launch of the Amrit Gyaan Kosh portal on the iGOT platform, co-developed by the Capacity Building Commission and Karmayogi Bharat. This comprehensive resource, which debuted in August, compiles best practices from across India, aligning with 15 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and covering a variety of policy areas such as health, education, agriculture, and digital governance.
Dr. Jitendra Singh noted that this repository reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dedication to a “whole of the government” approach through inclusivity and accessibility, offering case studies, teaching notes, and materials in Hindi and Braille. He encouraged participants to utilize this resource and contribute additional case studies to enhance the repository further.
The workshop focuses on the significance of case-based methodologies in governance training. Participants will develop structured case studies, improve their teaching strategies, and contribute new resources to Amrit Gyaan Kosh. Sessions led by experts from the Stanford Leadership Academy for Development will conclude with the creation of publishable case studies addressing actual administrative challenges.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also commended the rigorous selection that identified 60 exceptional faculty members from over 300 nominations. This two-cohort workshop marks the beginning of a comprehensive training phase, poised to make substantial contributions to the collective knowledge on the iGOT platform.
The Minister highlighted that Amrit Gyaan Kosh serves not just as a repository but as a platform for fostering self-reliance in governance training. The carefully selected resources allow faculty to align their teaching with global benchmarks while addressing India’s distinct administrative challenges. He encouraged participants to make the most of this learning experience, collaborate with colleagues, and share insights gained within their institutions.
The event was attended by leaders from the Capacity Building Commission, Karmayogi Bharat; Asian Development Bank; Asian Development Bank Institute; and program instructors from Stanford Leadership Academy for Development.
