JAMMU, Mar 4: Surinder Choudhary, the Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, has strongly criticized former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks on the present political climate in the region.
As the budget session of the J&K Assembly approaches, Choudhary sharply rebutted Mufti’s statements, asserting, “Mehbooba Mufti can make any claims she wishes, but she is a significant factor in the turmoil of J&K. The loss of statehood and special status for J&K can be traced back to her actions.”
He emphasized that the existing government does not seek input from Mufti, declaring, “Our accountability is to the electorate who chose us, not to her.”
Choudhary also reflected on a past incident where Mufti was dismissive of concerns regarding the safety of children and the use of pellet guns.
“This is the same Mehbooba who, when questioned about the discrimination against children and the firing of pellet guns, responded with a question about whether children wanted to buy milk and toffees from the camps?” Choudhary recounted.
