Tumakuru, Jan 4: B Ramachandrappa, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) for the Madhugiri sub-division in Tumakuru, Karnataka, was suspended on Friday following the release of a concerning video that shown him in a questionable situation with a woman in his office bathroom.
The 35-second clip, captured by an unknown individual, reveals the officer participating in inappropriate behavior with the woman. The footage ends abruptly when the woman realizes she is being filmed and attempts to cover herself behind Ramachandrappa.
On Saturday, Tumakuru Superintendent of Police (SP) KV Ashok verified the incident, indicating that a report had been forwarded to higher-ranking police officials, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Central Range, and eventually to the Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Mohan.
Following the report, DGP Mohan took prompt action, suspending Ramachandrappa on Friday evening. The officer had previously served in the Koratagere area, which is part of the constituency represented by Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara.
An internal investigation is currently underway to thoroughly assess the incident and ascertain the misconduct involved. The state government has vowed to take all necessary actions to prevent such occurrences in the future and to uphold police integrity. (Agencies)
