Johannesburg, Feb 21: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting held here on Friday. Jaishankar is visiting South Africa for two days to take part in the G20 discussions.
He shared on X, along with photos from their meeting, “The G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Johannesburg presented a chance to engage with CPC Politburo member and FM Wang Yi of China this morning.”
This meeting occurs as India and China continue their diplomatic efforts to resolve bilateral and regional issues.
On Thursday, during a G20 session focused on the “Global Geopolitical Situation,” Jaishankar noted that the G20 is a key indicator of the increasing multi-polarity of the world.
He remarked, “The current global geopolitical context is challenging, characterized by the lingering impacts of the COVID pandemic, various conflicts, economic pressures, food security concerns, and climate issues.”
The G20 serves as a vital platform for international economic collaboration, playing an essential role in navigating the significant challenges affecting the global economy.
The G20 member countries include: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, the United States, the African Union, and the European Union.
