JAMMU, Jan 24: Ekta Kumari, an NCC cadet from Jammu and Kashmir, is poised to become the first in her region to lead the National Cadet Corps (NCC) girls’ contingent at the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on January 26. A resident of Akhnoor in Jammu district, Ekta is an accomplished cadet from the NCC’s First Jammu and Kashmir Naval Unit. She is currently studying for a BSc degree at Gandhi Nagar Government College for Women.
Her appointment as leader of the distinguished contingent has generated immense pride across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, as noted by Defence PRO Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal. Ekta was inspired to serve the nation by her father, a retired soldier of the 12 Jammu and Kashmir (JAK) Light Infantry. Since childhood, she aspired to join the armed forces, beginning her educational journey at Army Public School in Akhnoor, where she developed a passion for military discipline and service.
During her time in college, Ekta joined the NCC and excelled in various areas, including social initiatives and adventure sports. Her commitment and discipline distinguished her, allowing her to rise quickly through the ranks. Ekta regards her selection as Parade Commander of the All India Girls Contingent at Kartavya Path as the proudest moment of her life.
In her message, Ekta conveyed her deep gratitude to her mentors, including her Associate NCC Officer (ANO) Lieutenant Colonel Abhijeet, Drill Ustaad Jaswinder, and the NCC team at Nagrota camp, who provided her with comprehensive training. She also expressed appreciation for the steadfast support of her Unit Commanding Officer Lieutenant Commander Tej Ram, Group Commander Brigadier Deepak Sajjanhar SM, and other pivotal officials.
Ekta’s achievement is a remarkable personal milestone and stands as a beacon of inspiration for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, encouraging them to chase their ambitions with perseverance, hard work, and resilience. Her landmark role at the Republic Day Parade highlights the talent and potential of the region’s youth, motivating others to follow in her admirable footsteps.
