Mumbai, Jan 26: The chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, emphasized on Sunday the need to respect differences and highlighted cohesion as essential for harmonious living.
He made these remarks while unfurling the national flag during a Republic Day celebration at a college in Bhiwandi, located in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
Bhagwat pointed out that Republic Day serves as a reminder of our responsibilities to the nation, alongside the celebrations.
Discussing diversity, he stated that respecting differences is crucial and asserted that “cohesion is the key to living in harmony”.
He added, “Conflicts arise beyond Bharat due to our diversity. We view diversity as a natural aspect of life. Each individual can possess unique traits, but it is vital to treat one another with kindness.
To truly coexist, there must be unity. One cannot find joy if their family is in distress, and likewise, a community cannot thrive if it is facing difficulties,” he expressed.
Bhagwat also underlined the significance of merging knowledge with diligence in all endeavors.
“Being entrepreneurial is valuable; however, it is imperative to approach your work with sound knowledge. Any task undertaken without proper understanding yields poor results and can lead to chaos. Tasks performed in ignorance resemble the work of an unhinged person,” he remarked.
To illustrate his point, Bhagwat compared the process of cooking rice to the necessity of knowledge in all activities.
“To cook rice properly, you require water, heat, and rice. But if you lack the know-how and opt to consume dry rice, drink water, and expose yourself to the sun for hours, it won’t turn into a meal. Knowledge and commitment are crucial,” he explained.
Additionally, he reflected on the role of trust and commitment in daily life.
“When you ask for water at a hotel, you might face rudeness or disdain. However, if you request water in someone’s home, you are often provided with a jug of water and something to eat. What accounts for this difference? It is the faith and commitment present at home. Such endeavors yield fruitful results,” Bhagwat noted.
