NEW DELHI, Nov 30: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) urged the interim Government of Bangladesh on Saturday to put an end to the ongoing atrocities against Hindus and to immediately release ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das from jail.
In a statement, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale called on the Indian Government to enhance its efforts to curb the violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh and to take necessary actions to foster global support “as soon as possible.”
“The violence, killings, looting, arson, and inhumane actions perpetrated by Islamic fundamentalists against Hindus, women, and other minorities in Bangladesh are deeply concerning, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh condemns these acts,” he remarked.
Rather than taking action to stop these incidents, the current Government of Bangladesh and various agencies have remained passive bystanders, Hosabale stated.
“A new wave of injustice and violence appears to be emerging against the Hindus of Bangladesh, arising from their desperate attempts to defend themselves peacefully within a democratic framework,” the RSS general secretary noted.
“It is unjust for the Bangladesh government to imprison ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who is peacefully leading these protests on behalf of the Hindus,” he added.
Earlier this week, on Monday, the Bangladesh Police apprehended ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka while he was en route to Chittagong.
“The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh calls upon the Bangladesh Government to ensure an immediate halt to the atrocities against Hindus and to release Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das from custody,” said Hosabale.
“The RSS also appeals to the Indian Government to persist in its endeavors to put an end to the suffering of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh and to promptly take action to generate global awareness in support of these efforts,” he continued.
At this crucial juncture, the RSS general secretary emphasized the need for India, along with the global community and its institutions, to stand in solidarity with the victims in Bangladesh, demanding that their respective Governments exert every possible effort to ensure an immediate cessation of atrocities against Hindus and other minorities.
This is essential for the promotion of world peace and brotherhood, he added. (PTI)
