New Delhi, Feb 11: Following the Delhi High Court’s decision to grant a two-day custody parole to incarcerated J-K MP Rashid Engineer for the upcoming Budget session of Parliament, he was escorted to RML Hospital under police protection on Tuesday morning for a routine health check-up, according to sources from Tihar jail. Rashid has been imprisoned in Tihar since 2019 due to charges related to terror funding and sought interim bail or custody parole to fulfill his duties as a member of Parliament for his constituency in Lok Sabha. Sources indicated, “He will be transported to Parliament after his examination at the hospital.” However, his parole comes with specific conditions, including a prohibition on using a cellphone or the internet, and he is not allowed to interact with the media or any individuals outside of his official responsibilities as an MP. The Baramulla MP faces serious allegations of providing financial support to separatists and terrorist organizations in Jammu and Kashmir. (Agencies)
