CHENNAI, Feb 26: Evervan Kothari Footwear Ltd, a subsidiary of Phoenix Kothari Group, has announced plans to establish a non-leather footwear manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore, which is expected to generate 50,000 job opportunities, according to government officials on Wednesday.
Rafeeq Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Phoenix Kothari Group, represented Evervan Kothari Footwear in signing official documents with Tarez Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Guidance and Export Promotion Bureau, during a ceremony attended by Chief Minister M K Stalin, Industries Minister TRB Rajaa, Chief Secretary N Muruganandam, and Evervan Shoetown Group Chairman Ran at the Secretariat.
The Department of Industries, Investment Promotion, and Commerce is actively pursuing various initiatives aimed at attracting significant investments, creating numerous job opportunities for young people, especially women, improving their quality of life, and ensuring widespread development throughout the state.
The initiative to set up a footwear manufacturing facility in the districts of Karur and Perambalur is expected to generate a considerable number of job opportunities in these underdeveloped areas, as stated in an official release.
This project will enhance individual income levels and play a vital role in the overall economic development of the region, it was noted. (PTI)
