JAMMU, Feb 10: The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has published the Vehicle Retail Data for January 2025 concerning the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the released data, the 2-Wheeler segment saw a slight decline of 0.63%, totaling 4,561 units in January 2025, down from 4,590 units in January 2024.
Similarly, the 3-Wheeler segment experienced a significant decrease of 12.00%, with sales falling to 1,012 units in January 2025, compared to 1,150 units the previous year.
The Commercial Vehicle sector also faced a reduction of 22.45%, with only 812 units sold in January 2025 versus 1,047 units in January 2024.
In contrast, the Passenger Vehicle category demonstrated substantial growth of 14.86%, reaching 6,275 units in January 2025, compared to 5,463 units in January 2024.
The Tractor Vehicle segment saw a remarkable increase of 44.36%, with 384 units sold this January, up from 266 units in January 2024.
Overall, retail sales totaled 13,044 units in January 2025, representing a growth of 4.22% compared to 12,516 units sold in January 2024.
On this announcement, Sanjay Aggarwal, Chairperson of FADA, remarked that while the Passenger Vehicle and Tractor Vehicle categories showed impressive growth, the declines in the 2-Wheeler, 3-Wheeler, and Commercial Vehicle segments raise concerns. He stated, “Our recent survey shows that 46% of dealers expect growth in the upcoming month, while 43% foresee stable sales and 11% predict a downturn. This mixture of attitudes highlights the industry’s complex environment, where promising trends are met with persistent challenges.”
He added, “On a positive note, dealers indicated that the ongoing wedding season, new product launches, and targeted promotional efforts should help maintain customer engagement. Additionally, improved inventory management, favorable financing options from select lenders, and backlogged orders in certain segments, like commercial vehicles, contribute to cautious optimism. With supportive policies and increased consumer sentiment following the budget, we anticipate a stable or slightly enhanced sales performance in February.”
