RAMBAN, Feb 22: Relatives of a Srinagar man, who was reportedly killed in a road accident in the Digdool area of Ramban on December 30, 2024, staged a protest today, demanding a comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
A group comprising family members, friends, and relatives of the deceased traveled from Srinagar to Ramban to protest, asserting that it was a deliberate murder and not an accident.
The protesters held placards, urging local police authorities to expedite the investigation and deliver justice.
The deceased, Umar Yaseen Shah, 24, son of Mohammad Yaseen Shah from Railway Colony, Nowgam, Srinagar, was reported missing on December 22 while driving his black Mahindra Thar Jeep with the registration number JK01AN-9990.
Shepherds discovered his body in a gorge in the Digdool area of Ramban on December 30. Following the discovery, authorities transferred the body after conducting a post-mortem at the District Hospital Ramban and completing the necessary legal procedures.
The family called for the formation of a Special Investigation Team by the police to hasten the inquiry into the case.
They requested the involvement of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, and SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh, to aid in their pursuit of justice.
They indicated that they would travel to New Delhi if necessary to seek justice.
Meanwhile, SSP Ramban Kulbir Singh stated that the investigation is ongoing.
