JAMMU, Jan 14: To address the growing drug crisis, multiple delegations met with Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), today.
A group from International Delhi Public School (IDPS) Jammu, led by Dr. Suminder Singh and Swaran Choudhary, along with Malu Sharma, Head of Media and Communication, approached Dr. Abdullah to discuss the escalating drug issue. The delegation suggested collaborative efforts to foster a stronger, drug-free community.
Dr. Abdullah voiced serious concerns regarding the rising rates of drug abuse within the Union Territory and highlighted the pressing need for joint actions to combat this escalating threat and protect the youth’s future.
He emphasized that drug addiction is not merely an individual problem but a societal one requiring a comprehensive approach that includes awareness drives, preventive strategies, and effective rehabilitation programs.
Another delegation from the Labana community, led by president Gurjyot Singh, also met with Dr. Abdullah.
They informed him about several challenges their community faces and requested his support.
Dr. Abdullah pledged his assistance and stressed the importance of inclusive development and equal opportunities for all communities.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, participated in the discussions, highlighting the critical need for establishing rehabilitation centers at the district level throughout Jammu and Kashmir.
