NEW DELHI, Jan 31: On Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey for 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha. This document, released annually by the government before the Union Budget, reviews the economic situation and outlines the short-to-medium-term forecasts for the economy. The Economic Survey is compiled by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs within the Ministry of Finance, overseen by the chief economic adviser. The first Economic Survey was introduced in 1950-51 as part of budget documents but was separated from the Union Budget in the 1960s, being presented a day prior to the budget session.
