ANKARA, Jan 21: A devastating fire at a hotel located in a ski resort in northwestern Turkiye occurred on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 individuals and injuring an additional 32, according to officials.
The blaze ignited overnight within the restaurant of the hotel situated in Bolu province’s Kartalkaya region, as reported by Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.
Governor Abdulaziz Aydin informed the state-run Anadolu Agency that two victims lost their lives after jumping from the building in a state of panic.
There were a total of 234 guests present at the hotel at the time of the incident, according to Aydin.
Television footage captured the hotel’s roof and upper floors engulfed in flames. The specific cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
Aydin’s office stated that 30 fire trucks and 28 ambulances were dispatched to the scene. (AP)
