Srinagar, Dec 29: Air travel to and from Srinagar International Airport resumed on Sunday, following the cancellation of all flights due to heavy snowfall the previous day. An official from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) announced, “Flight services to Srinagar have restarted, and we are anticipating normal operations.” The official explained that flight operations were halted on Saturday due to significant snowfall that began on Friday evening. “Runways have been cleared, and all necessary safety checks were completed before operations recommenced,” he added. The Kashmir valley experienced its first substantial snowfall of the season on Friday evening, continuing through Saturday. This not only disrupted flights but also led to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway and the suspension of train services. Fortunately, the highway has now been cleared, and passenger vehicles are allowed to travel, although motorists are advised to adhere to lane discipline.
