Mendhar/Jammu, Jan 31: On Friday, officials reported that several landmines, part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, detonated due to a forest fire at two locations along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The fires ignited in the Dhari Dabsi forest area of Mendhar and in Sona Gali within the Mankote sectors during the afternoon, leading to over six landmine explosions. According to officials, there have been no reported damages resulting from these blasts.

The areas near the LoC are heavily mined to deter infiltration attempts by terrorists crossing the border. The fire is still ongoing, and efforts to extinguish the flames are currently underway, as confirmed by officials. (Agencies)
