MENDHAR, Feb 9: Today, four landmines detonated as a result of a forest fire near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district, fortunately without any casualties.
The blaze ignited in the Lanjote forest located in the Balakote sector of the Mendhar sub-division around 1 PM, triggering the explosions.

The areas adjacent to the LoC are heavily mined as part of an anti-infiltration strategy designed to block terrorist entry into the nation.
The exact cause of the fire has not been identified yet, but officials reported that it was extinguished after hours of dedicated efforts from the Army, police, and local volunteers.
