MENDHAR, Feb 9: Today, four landmines detonated as a result of a forest fire near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district, fortunately without any casualties.
The blaze ignited in the Lanjote forest located in the Balakote sector of the Mendhar sub-division around 1 PM, triggering the explosions.

The areas adjacent to the LoC are heavily mined as part of an anti-infiltration strategy designed to block terrorist entry into the nation.
