JAMMU, Dec 4: On Wednesday, authorities from the Crime Branch reported the arrest of three individuals, including a former serviceman and a suspended government school teacher, in connection with multiple cheating cases in Jammu and Kashmir. According to a Crime Branch spokesperson, ex-serviceman Saroop Lal from Bari Brahmana and suspended teacher Jameel Anjum from Jammu are known repeat offenders, being implicated in ten and nine FIRs respectively for various frauds, such as deceiving young job seekers under the guise of offering government jobs.
Additionally, the third suspect, Arvinder Singh from Jammu, was wanted for his involvement in creating fake permanent resident certificates and acquiring land through deceitful practices. The spokesperson highlighted that Anjum was taken into custody for conning Karan Singh from Rani Park Jammu out of Rs 28.20 lakhs with the false promise of securing a government job, while Lal was arrested for swindling Ram Paul from Kathua out of Rs 5 lakhs under similar pretenses.
Benam Tosh, Senior Superintendent of Police of the Crime Branch (Jammu), confirmed that charges against all three accused have been filed in local courts in Jammu and Kathua following their arrests.
