Dear Reader,
Satwant Singh Rissam’s thought-provoking article underscores the urgent need for enhanced sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in rural communities. The absence of sufficient facilities has consistently prevented the region’s youth from unlocking their full potential in sports. Tackling this imbalance necessitates a united effort from both governmental and private sectors.
Implementing a transparent framework for promoting sports among rural youth, boosting funding for infrastructure improvements, and engaging private entities through CSR programs such as “adopt a stadium” can considerably narrow this divide. Furthermore, hosting local competitions and upgrading current facilities will help nurture a sports culture from the grassroots level. By emphasizing these initiatives, we can guarantee that every young person in J&K, irrespective of their geographical location, has the chance to thrive in athletics, promoting both individual development and regional pride.
Sincerely,
Neha Singh
