Ranchi, Feb 15: President Droupadi Murmu emphasized on Saturday that the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are set to create a remarkable future.
She highlighted that the Central Government is working towards incorporating AI into higher education, noting with pride that the Birla Institute of Technology in Mesra, Ranchi, is leading in this effort by introducing relevant courses in 2023.
“The future is poised for significant changes with substantial developments anticipated in artificial intelligence and machine learning. The Indian government is dedicated to embedding AI into higher education, ensuring that these technical opportunities are also accessible to marginalized communities, so that the transformative changes benefit everyone,” Murmu stated during her address at the platinum jubilee celebrations of BIT Mesra.
However, she advised innovators and entrepreneurs not to overlook the knowledge possessed by traditional communities, stressing that “often, solutions do not require extensive technological interventions.” The President also inaugurated an exhibition featuring innovations in science, technology, entrepreneurship, and AI, showcasing robots and self-driving vehicles.
President Murmu is on a two-day visit to Jharkhand, having arrived on Friday and stayed overnight at Raj Bhavan. In light of her visit, security measures have been heightened in the state capital. (Agencies)
