NEW DELHI, Jan 25: Gabriel India, a manufacturer of auto components, has announced its acquisition of assets from Marelli Motherson Auto Suspension Parts Pvt Ltd for ₹60 crore.
This acquisition will enhance Gabriel India’s annual manufacturing capacity by an additional 3.2 million shock absorbers and 1 million gas spring units, according to a company statement.
The total purchase price stipulated under the Asset Purchase Agreement (APA) is ₹60 crore, which is subject to closing adjustments, as revealed in a regulatory filing by Gabriel India.
Marelli Motherson Auto Suspension Parts Pvt Ltd (MMAS) is based in Pune and operates as a 50:50 joint venture between Marelli Europe S.p.A., previously known as Magneti Marelli S.p.A., and Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd.
This company specializes in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of passive shock absorbers, including semi-corner modules and gas springs, catering to both cars and commercial vehicles.
In addition, Gabriel India plans to enter a license agreement and a technical assistance agreement with Marelli Suspension Systems Italy S.p.A., enhancing its advanced suspension products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Regarding the acquisition, Anjali Singh, Executive Chairperson of the ANAND Group and Gabriel India Ltd, stated, “This acquisition is a significant milestone for Gabriel India, as it not only boosts our technological capabilities but also diversifies our product range and expands our customer base.”
She added, “By integrating the advanced suspension technologies of MMAS through this acquisition, we are set to reinforce our market position and provide greater value to our shareholders.”
Gabriel India emphasized that this acquisition aims to strengthen its competitive edge in the suspension sector. (PTI)
