JAMMU, Feb 3: A delegation from the Association of Industries, Gangyal Jammu, led by President Virendra Jain, along with General Secretary Sanjay Langar and Treasurer Jatinder Singh, met with PK Bhat, the Commissioner of the State Taxes Department of J&K, Jammu.
The discussion centered on concerns regarding S.O. 70, 71 & 72, through which the government has provided amnesty to unit holders who were unable to file SGST reimbursement claims on time due to factors beyond their control. Additionally, the S.O. allows eligible industrial units that submitted their claims after the cutoff date— prior to the notification’s issuance—to benefit from this scheme, provided they have submitted all necessary returns under Section 39 of the Jammu and Kashmir Goods & Services Tax Act, 2017 and have timely paid the tax owed.
The delegation highlighted that this requirement has hindered many unit holders from obtaining reimbursement, urging that this stipulation be lifted. They informed the Commissioner of the various challenges faced by industries in the area and requested his involvement in addressing these concerns.
Moreover, they brought to the Commissioner’s attention the substantial GST reimbursement claims worth crores of rupees, which have been filed with the department but remain unprocessed. Jain remarked that the delay in GST reimbursements is creating significant financial strain on the industrial sector.
The Commissioner of the State Taxes Department listened attentively to the delegation and assured them that the issues would be addressed, noting that the government is already working on solutions.
