JAMMU, Mar 4: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today engaged with the issues and concerns raised by Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, GOC 16 Corps located in Nagrota, during a meeting held in his office at the Civil Secretariat.
Also present were Principal Secretary of the Home Department, Chandraker Bharti; Brigadier Kapil Taneja, VSM, Brig A 16 Corps; Brigadier Gurmeet Singh Shan, Director of the Rajya Sainik Board; and Colonel Tejas B Candade, SM, Colonel GS HR 16 Corps.
Key topics of discussion included the demand for compiling and fully digitizing the database of ex-servicemen in Jammu & Kashmir to enhance cadre management and ensure the preservation of records for future reference.
They also requested the option to apply for Government jobs under the ‘ex-servicemen’ quota during the last year of their service, as the prolonged recruitment process can hinder their transition to civilian employment. Furthermore, they proposed leveraging their expertise by allowing them to serve as NCC Trainers, as they are well-suited to provide effective training to cadets.
Additional requests focused on increasing welfare measures to provide better livelihood opportunities for Veer Naris, and ensuring the timely filling of Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer positions in each district to reduce the need for servicemen to travel to urban centers for resolving service-related matters.
In response, the Chief Secretary expressed his dedication to supporting this vital segment of society who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation’s honor and integrity. He assured the attendees that the government would investigate avenues for facilitating self-employment opportunities under various Government schemes and address their challenges in accessing government job prospects.
To enhance grievance resolution, the Chief Secretary encouraged them to utilize the ‘JK Samadhan’ portal for lodging their grievances, emphasizing that this platform facilitates direct and efficient access to the administration, ensuring timely and favorable outcomes for the affected individuals.
Dulloo also instructed the Home Department to give serious consideration to the demands presented and take prompt action towards their resolution. He remarked that the nation owes much to these individuals for their exemplary services during their tenure.
He called for a timely review of the progress on these issues, assuring them that the administration is attentive to the welfare concerns of ex-servicemen. He concluded by affirming the government’s commitment to taking all necessary steps to ensure a fulfilling post-retirement experience for all ex-servicemen in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
