Among the primary requests made to the Chief Secretary were the compilation and full digitization of the records of all Ex-Servicemen in Jammu & Kashmir, which would facilitate proper management of their cadre and ensure easy access to historical records.
Additionally, they requested permission to apply for government jobs under the ‘Ex-Servicemen’ quota during the last year of their service, as the recruitment process often extends over several months, providing them the opportunity to start working immediately after retiring. Another point raised was the proposal for utilizing their expertise as NCC Trainers, as these Ex-Servicemen would be well-suited to offer quality training to cadets.
Other notable demands included enhanced welfare measures to create livelihood opportunities for Veer Naris, as well as the appointment of Zilla Sainik Welfare Officers in every district to minimize the need for Ex-Servicemen to travel to urban centers for assistance with their service-related matters.
In response to their concerns, Chief Secretary Dulloo expressed his commitment to supporting this community, which has dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation. He assured them that the government would seek avenues for self-employment through various government initiatives and address their challenges in securing government job opportunities.
To improve grievance resolution, the Chief Secretary encouraged them to use the ‘JK Samadhan’ portal for lodging their concerns, emphasizing that this platform enables direct access to the administration and assures swift and effective resolutions, ensuring maximum satisfaction for the affected parties.
Dulloo also instructed the Home Department to give careful consideration to their requests and to pursue prompt resolutions. He reiterated that the nation owes a debt of gratitude to these individuals for their exceptional service during their careers.
He called for regular reviews of the resolution process for these issues and assured them that the administration remains attentive to their welfare. He stated that the government would take all necessary measures to guarantee a fulfilling post-retirement life for all Ex-Servicemen in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
