Additionally, an old, rusted mortar shell was discovered in a village in the Poonch district.
The landmine blast occurred at 10:50 am in the Nangi-Tekari area of the Krishna Ghati sector in Mendhar while Army personnel were on patrol, as per officials.
They stated that a soldier was injured after accidentally stepping on the landmine and was promptly taken to the hospital.
The forward areas are equipped with landmines as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, which can occasionally be dislodged by rain, leading to such incidents, officials explained.
