New Delhi, Jan 26: To celebrate the 76th Republic Day, Google has released a vibrant doodle showcasing the rich diversity of India. The artwork features a snow leopard donning traditional Ladakhi attire, a ‘tiger’ in dhoti-kurta playing a customary instrument, along with other animals and birds that represent various regions of the country. This colorful piece, infused with surrealistic elements, creatively integrates the six letters of ‘GOOGLE’ into what appears to be a ‘wildlife parade’.
As part of the Republic Day festivities, India will demonstrate its military strength and cultural wealth along the Kartavya Path, marking 75 years as a republic. The event will showcase sixteen tableaux from different states and Union Territories, in addition to fifteen representations from central ministries and other organizations. The tableau from Madhya Pradesh is set to highlight Project Cheetah and Kuno National Park.
According to the description of the doodle on Google’s website, “This doodle celebrates India’s 76th Republic Day, an occasion marked by national pride and unity.” Illustrated by Pune-based guest artist Rohan Dahotre, the doodle depicts animals walking in the parade that symbolize India’s diverse regions. Among them, a snow leopard is seen walking upright in traditional Ladakhi dress, while a two-footed tiger holds a musical instrument. Other featured animals include a flying peacock and an antelope dressed in ceremonial attire, carrying a ceremonial staff.
The annual Republic Day Parade, a highly anticipated event attended by many, spans several kilometers along the Kartavya Path leading to India Gate. Spectators enjoy a spectacular display of colorful floats and cultural performances from across the country, alongside the marching formations of the armed forces.
“Republic Day is of immense significance for India, as it brings together people from all walks of life and stirs a deep sense of patriotism in every Indian. With its incredible diversity, encapsulating numerous languages, cultures, and traditions, India feels like a vibrant universe unto itself,” said Dahotre, as noted in the doodle’s description.
